Fall Spice Trail Mix

It has been quite a while since I have done a blog post. A lot has happened in our personal lives that has made me put my blog on the back burner. Among other things, my father in law passed away after a long battle with cancer so we have been spending lots of time with family. This doesn’t mean I haven’t been in the kitchen though. Cooking and baking have always relaxed me which means I have a backlog of recipes I want to share with you.

Family is the most important thing in life. This is my favorite time of year because it is all about spending time with family and sharing meals together!

Everyone in our family knows that there has to be something to snack on within reach at every family gathering or something would feel off. We pretty much eat the whole time we are together. Certain family members can be caught taking a little siesta on the couch in between rounds of food 😛

I will be toting the perfect thing to snack on this holiday season. This trail mix is perfect as part of a tray of appetizers at a party, to pack in a lunch box or just a simple yummy snack. One of the best things about this is the way it makes your house smell! Delicious!

Here are the exact ingredients I used for this recipe. If you have been following me on any type of social media then you probably know my near obsession with Aldi. Seriously people… if you have not shopped there you are missing out. The only ingredient pictured below that I did not buy at Aldi is the Cracklin’ Oat Bran.

Alright, so the first step is to mix all your cereals, pretzels and nuts together.

Then, in a small saucepan, bring maple syrup, butter and spices to a boil.

Pour liquid over your cereal mixture and gently stir until everything is completely coated. Next, evenly distribute mixture onto a sheet pan.

Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through. Set out to cool. Lastly, mix in your dark chocolate chips and dried cranberries.

That’s it! Super easy to throw together, which is good because this stuff is seriously addicting.

If you love this mix, but don’t want the fall spice flavor just omit the spices when boiling the maple syrup mixture. The pumpkin cereal is not available year round anyway so just swap that out for a Cheerio type cereal of your choice. I have taste tested it and it’s yummy like that as well.
