Crockpot Dinner Recipes Party Food

Crock Pot Turkey Chili

We have finally had some cold days this winter. Well for most people these temperatures wouldn’t be considered cold, but I am full-blooded Floridian… AKA a wimp. Anyway, this gets me in the mood to whip up some comfort food and one of the meals that always pops in my mind on days like these is Chili.

The whole family will love this warm flavor-packed dish and it’s a cinch to make since it all gets thrown into the crockpot. Trust me when I say that you won’t even notice that this chili is made with turkey and not the traditional ground beef.

This is the PERFECT pairing for Traveling Vineyard’s Bent Gate Cabernet Sauvignon! Just trust me! Want to check it out for yourself? Click the link below to shop!

Chop up one sweet onion and one sweet bell pepper of your choice. We used orange bell pepper because that is what we had on hand. Heat two tablespoons olive oil in a skillet, then add the pepper and onions. Saute for about 5-7 minutes.

Add in one pound ground turkey, breaking up the meat. Cook until no longer pink.

Then add in chili powder, cumin, oregano, cayenne pepper, and salt; stir for about 20 seconds.

Pour meat mixture into the crockpot. Next add in tomatoes, chicken broth, beans, and corn. Give everything a good stir. Cook on low for 7 hours or high for 3 hours.

Finally, dig in! Eat by itself or enjoy with your favorite toppings. I made a quick cornbread to go with it as well. I will share that recipe soon 🙂

Feel free to adjust seasonings as needed depending on your spice preference. Some may think 4 tablespoons of chili powder has too much of a kick, so just reduce the amount if needed.
